katherine cursed fernando in her heart. she was hoping she'd get to see him again, if only to kill a second time for what he just put her through. as soon as he died, and she realized exactly what he had done, kat knew that she couldn't stay there. those vultures were coming. it didn't matter that there was no armor, and he was lying because he was spiteful and the worst sore loser - all that mattered was that she was being chased now. people intended to kill her on sight. the pinkette avoided combat with one of them by taking the longer path - but reaching a non-PK zone was no easy task. she'd have to travel a lot more, and... there was simply no time for her to rest and regain some of her hp. if someone was to fight her, she'd lose.

The chatroom in the corner had continued to annoy her, constantly lighting up whenever she turned her head too much to that side. She had yet to figure out how to get rid of it, or hide it, entirely.[break][break]

But this time she was genuinely happy to see the random message that popped up. A barcode name shows up posting a bounty, with a clear-cut message that a pink-haired mage has legendary armor. Or at least super strong armor. [break][break]

And Stormy wanted it.[break][break]

So, she'd followed the coordinates in the message, fully intent on surprising the woman with an attack she almost certainly knew was coming. After all, what were the chances she hadn't seen the bounty on her head?[break][break]

It took a while to find her, because, of course, the pinkette was on the move. But there she was, just ahead. She was swearing under her breath and she could see the italicized chat bubbles appearing over her head. Stormy chuckles.[break][break]

She was low on health, that much she could see. Of course, she'd had time to recover a bit of her health. But Stormy didn't have time to dawdle, she needed to knock this girl out before someone else showed up.[break][break]

katherine had already recovered 20% hp. that brought her... to half of her hp bar, didn't it? maybe, if she stalls for enough time, she can reach something between seventy or eighty. that'll put her in a nice place where she's at least able to put up a fight. well against one combatant, that is. she's so done if two catch her.

it wasn't very helpful that there was a glowing mark above her avatar, signaling that she indeed carried a bounty - and anyone with common sense would realize that she was the pink haired mage fernando's dying message referred to.

nothing prepares the mage for the bigger-than-average orb of ice magic. it hits her from behind, causing her to trip and lose any momentum she had in her sprint until now. "damn it. you are here because of that stupid announcement he made, aren't you?" as kat rose to a stand, she twirled her wand between her digits. "well, i don't have it. he fucking lied. so go away and leave me alone. it isn't a fair fight when i'm missing half of my hp."

considering the fact that stormy was under no obligation to listen to katherine's orders, or even believe her words, her tone was rather demanding.

Stormy watches with grim satisfaction as the woman goes down, hard. She spits questions, redundant ones. Of course she was here because of Fernando's bounty, and she was here to collect.[break][break]

"Even if it's a lie, I came all the way out here anyway. Some experience is better than a fat load of nothing. Now hold still, little mage."[break][break]

For whatever reason, it seems the woman doesn't retaliate. Does she really expect to win this by.. feigning ignorance?[break][break]

"At least put up some sort of a fight."[break][break]

Instead of coming back hard with another damaging move, the dragonic mage instead opts to use CALM MIND in preparation.

"fine, whatever. i am pretty sure you get reduced exp for fighting someone who isn't healed up. but i guess that doesn't matter to you, does it?"

it wouldn't matter to a vulture - so surely kat was correct. it takes a while for the snow and frost to fall from her clothing, but as they do? something is revealed to stormy. while her move did in fact cause kat to trip... the mage's ability, ICE SCALES, sustained half of the damage that was meant to be dealt to her. "sure. if that's really what you want." the wand, now charged with ice magic, prepared its attack - a beam of ice exploded from the tip of the mage's weapon, directed at no other than stormy herself. all kat needs to do is freeze her solid, here and now. if that happens? her escape is probably secured.

The ice melts rapidly, much faster than anticipated. She chalked it up to Stormy's fire-type abilities weakening her ice-type moves. Where was the option for straight fire mage? Fuck this game.[break][break]

It doesn't occur to her that this little lady took a different ability, one that reduces the damage dealt with special attacks. No matter, Stormy hits hard enough to burn down a village.[break][break]

"Experience is experience, my dear!"[break][break]

That, and she was so used to everyone picking on her that she stopped giving a damn.[break][break]

The opposing mage's wand hits her square in the chest, causing her to pause in her approach. The ice does not take hold, however, and instead melts off her robes. Her fire-typing ensures that her clothes don't remain damp.[break][break]

Stormy brandishes her wand once again and casts MYSTICAL FIRE buffed with SHEER FORCE.[break][break]

stormy's comment caused kat to wonder if dying gave any exp as well. her death, at least after fernando's announcement, was imminent. it was rapidly approaching, and even if by some miracle she managed to survive this encounter with stormy - she certainly wasn't going to survive the next time. not until she rests.

"i suppose you have a point. beggars can't be choosers, can they?" a chuckle escaped through her lips, those amber-eyes of the mage narrowing slightly upon stormy's avatar. "i am not going to make this easy for you. at all." and as before, although stormy's buffed attack does manage to hit katherine - and quite easily, considering she made no attempt to dodge - half of the damage is reduced. it was as easy as that, it seemed. the ice scales flash across her avatar, ensuring that the information is relayed to players who were unfamiliar with the ability.

"let's give this ice beam another go!" once more, her ability is used with the sole intent of freezing stormy, if at all possible. a fire type such as herself might just melt the ice... but it's worth a shot. for as long as katherine is still alive, at least.

The game seemed fairly lenient one way or the other in terms of what gave experience and what didn't. After all, they had openly admitted the game was unbalanced or something.[break][break]

It's entirely possible Stormy is basing all of her information on her own assumptions - she could be way off. The fact remained though that she wasn't about to let this girl go, especially not if there was even a scrap of truth that she was holding onto some pretty sweet armor. [break][break]

The MYSTICAL FIRE breathes life across her clothes, but once again her ice scales manage to protect her from half of the damage. Impressive.[break][break]

In response, she fires another blast of ice beam, and Stormy laughs out loud at the effort. She was practically on fire, and she really hoped that freeze would take affect? [break][break]

"This was fun, really."[break][break]

She shirks off the damp from her robes, flicking water droplets to the ground. The repeated doses of the attack have left shards of ice on the more furry bits of her garb, but it soon melts once she repeats her previous attack: MYSTICAL FIRE.[break][break]

there was only so much the mage's ability was capable of. decreasing some of that damage was helpful, sure, but when stormy had the edge of... actually not fighting someone prior to meeting katherine? the battle had a predetermined outcome. the slim chances of freezing her grew lower each time her ice beam struck the fire mage.

it was doomed. kat accepted that.

"next time we meet, i'm taking a selfie with your frozen statue. just like i did with that idiot. so watch your back." the laughter gets to the pinkette, clearly, she was undoubtedly upset. to think that she was going to lose and die for the first because of a lie of some sore loser! fernando will also get some for this. it's his fault she's in this position.

the stream of fire is met with another ice beam, but unfortunately, katherine's power and stamina levels were at an all time low. it struggles against the fire for more than a moment- until the flames are successful in powering through the frost, and reaching the mage.

like a torch, katherine is lighted up as her avatar burns. where stormy might expect the advertised armor to drop as kat is sent to the respawn zone, she finds nothing. nothing but bits of ash.
